Serap Fern is a Senior Analyst and Budget Manager for the Federal Aviation Administration in Washington DC. A native of Izmir, Turkey, she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a teaching license from Nine September University in 1979, and after moving to the United States she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Distributive Biology from Austin Peay State University in Tennessee in 1997 and a Master’s of Science Degree in Education from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1998. Serap has taught as a high school science teacher in Kars, Turkey, a science and college preparation teacher at Izmir Buyuk Dersahane” in Alsancak, Izmir, Turkey, a high school science and biology teacher and College Instructor in Mississippi and an Assistant Director and Director at Child Development Centers while living in Germany. She has volunteered as a nurse assistant in a hospital Physical Therapy and Labor and Delivery department and nursing home, served as an Assistant Girl Scout Leader, helped special education classes at a local high school, assisted a non-profit organization. Since starting work at the Federal Aviation Administration, Serap has held positions of Human Resources Specialist, Instructional Designer, Curriculum Manager, Lead Management and Program Analyst, Air Traffic Safety Inspector, and Contracting Officer Representative.
