What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received?

Do not be afraid to shine, be aware of the impact you create, manage your relationship with yourself and others with consciousness and intention!

One thing you wish you had known earlier in your career?

I wish I took some of the opportunities to work as an expat outside of Turkey.

What is the most courageous thing you have ever done?

Quitting my job to set up my own company in the middle of one of the worst economical crisis.

If you could have any three people (dead or alive) over for dinner – who would they be?

Buddha, my mother, Patti Smith.

Who are your role models?

My role models are women who have overcome difficulties in life, can stand on their own feet, live life without fear, who take the responsibility to make a big or small change in the system they are part of. I am lucky to have women with these qualities around me.

Name a book you read that positively shaped you.

Tibetan Book of Living and Dying. This book is special for me as it helped me cope with the loss of my mother at an early age and build a new understanding and perspective rather than growing bitterness inside me.

You believe in sisterhood at work because…

Bond and collaboration among sisters carries us forwards and strengthens us collectively.

If you had one superpower, what would it be?

I would want to make people change their challenging and toxic habits with just a small touch :)

Share a story about a time when you were really proud of your achievement.

We were expanding our businesses by opening offices overseas in my last organization. Establishing the new offices, building the local teams and implementing all HR processes in these countries together with my team where we have no previous experience has made me proud in the recent years.

Share a story about a time how you recovered from a great mistake.

Ignoring an existing problem, albeit a small one, sweeping it under the carpet can be a big mistake. Because the problem always grows bigger and more complex when left unattended. I made this mistake in my life and I paid the price. I am now more careful not to ignore the clues that point to problems and take action immediately.

Your advice to the next generation of professional women from your learnings.

First get to know yourself very well, then be curious about discovering your talents, open yourself up to the world, be hasty in applying what you have learned, work hard to create a positive change, even if it is small and always be aware of your impact.

Do you have any pets?

I have 2 adorable cats, Alis and Leo.

Describe yourself as a teenager in 3 words.

Looks very well-behaved on the outside but very naughty inside, hard worked, loves change.

Last book you read or are reading now.

Acı Çikolata, Laura Esquivel.

Who would play you in the movie of your life?

Natalie Portman.

How do you keep your growth mindset going?

By continuous learning, attending trainings, learning new skills, improving my skills, reading, working with students and young talents (I have so much to learn from them.
