Meet A WINner: Pırıl Kadıbeşegil Yaşar

We are very proud to have Pırıl Kadıbeşegil Yaşar, a sustainability leader, lead our Germany Circle! To celebrate world environment day, we got to know her a little closer.

Born in İzmir, Turkey; studied in the USA, Pırıl Kadıbeşegil Yaşar has worked in the Sustainability field for almost 15 years and throughout her career, she was lucky to work and meet with some amazing people like Nobel Prize winner Prof. Muhammad Yunus. In 2014, she started her career journey at Allianz in Turkey to kick off the sustainability journey that lead her forming the sustainability office. In 2017, she joined the Global Sustainability Team to manage the “social inclusion” pillar. Now, in her role, Pırıl is working to accelerate societal impact for Allianz globally. She has one daughter, a supportive husband, and one rescued golden retriever.

What do you do for a living? Tell us more about you!

I am a Global Sustainability Manager working in collaboration with close to 70 countries, enhancing societal impact by embodying being a good corporate citizen.

What's the best piece of advice you've received?

It might not be my job, but it's my responsibility!

One thing you wish you had known earlier in your career.

Invest more in me with every penny I had earned and reward myself with longer-term gains.

What is the most courageous thing you have ever done?

Fly to the USA for the very first time, right after turning 18 to study.

Who are your role models?

All women striving through all prejudices and challenges.

Name a book you read that positively shaped you.

All my father’s books; leading a proud legacy for me :)

You believe in sisterhood at work because…

I have personally benefited greatly from the solidarity of women uplifting, comforting and progressing each other.

If you had one superpower, what would it be?

Achieve all UN Sustainable Development Goals today.

Share a story about a time when you were really proud of your achievement.

I am very proud of where I am today and how I built my own career. I was scared but I took every opportunity to break my shell and try something new, meet with someone new, and learn something new. I let myself be vulnerable, but I gained as much out of it.

Share a story about a time when you recovered from a great mistake.

There are no mistakes, only learnings! Embrace the mindset and don't let yourself up for failure. Without mistakes, there is no achievement.

Your advice to the next generation of professional women from your learnings.

Pick each other up, support one another, invest in yourself, don´t let anyone tell you where is your place or time, and build your own momentum.

Do you have any pets?

I have a rescued golden retriever named Maya.
