MentorWIN: Ready for 2016

It is that time of the year to give thanks!

This time, we would like to thank our mentors for their generosity. We now have 125 mentors in our Mentoring Program making a difference in another WINner's life. Thank you!

Our mentoring program is year-long and you can participate as a mentor or mentee any time. It is as easy as 1-2-3! Please sign in to TurkishWIN.com here and fill out the mentor or mentee form.

We complement the mentoring match with our monthly mentoring newsletter and events. Speaking of events, save the date for the following events:

March 9th at 6.30 pm: Mentoring Y Generation with Burcu Yalman, Founder at CoachZone.  Co-organized with Professional Women's Network Istanbul, this event is members-only.

May 11th at 9.00 am: Mentor Appreciation Day with Dr. Rıza Kadılar, European Mentoring and Coaching Council Turkey President & Senior Country Manager and Representative at Natixis Turkey. This event is for mentors only.

Sharing Corner

Mentor: Gülcan Demirkol Aytemur, Founding Partner at GDA

Sharing Mentee: Pelin Doğan, Siemens IT Business Partner

"We kicked off our mentoring relationship when I was thinking of changing my position and when there were major organisational changes in my company. After completing our first meeting with Gülcan Demirkol, I understood that this match was not made by coincidence. We were communication on a regular basis through our relationship. I was really lucky with my mentor because she was there when I need her. Her balance in professional and sincere communication was perfect. After the first meeting, we decided on having a personality inventory (16PF). We evaluated the results together and make a development plan in line with my needs. She had substantive contribution in having my current position with her deep experience and objective reviews. I am really grateful for her time and efforts throughout the relationship."

Food for Thought

Mentoring is the ultimate New Year's resolution - a gift that keeps giving, that pays it forward, that does not involve a huge amount of time and that enriches you too. If you need a resolution to inspire and motivate you, consider becoming a mentor. To read the article, follow this link.

Dos and Don’t’s

  • Communicate on a regular basis
  • Set the agenda for each meeting.
  • Don't provide counselling service.
  • Don't assume your mentor has unlimited time for you.

We wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with inspiration and laughter in good health.
