Cansu Akarsu is a design student from Istanbul.In her speech, Cansu Akarsu underlines how she uses her design skills with a humanistic concern to find the right balance between the old and the new.

Following her passion for working with a variety of people in diverse contexts, she has been spending her undergraduate degree in different countries.
Her studies have taken her from Turkey (ITU) to the Netherlands (TuDelft) and South Korea (KAIST), while she worked in India (Siddhartha Das Studio) and Denmark (Designit) with design companies. Throughout her short design career she has won several design awards internationally. Her latest project to improve sanitation in rural schools was a finalist in INDEX: Design Challenge for students, and recently her concept for improving accessibility in elections was chosen as a winner by openIDEO. She is passionate about using her design skills with a humanistic concern and be flexible to new areas. She is currently in Istanbul, finishing the last semester of university.
