Nakiye Avdan Boyacigiller is Dean of the Faculty of Management at Sabancı University in Istanbul, Turkey. Born in the US and educated in Turkey, France and the US, her research, teaching and leadership activities all reflect her interests in enhancing the effectiveness of multicultural work groups and cross border collaboration.
Professor Boyacıgiller’s research on cross cultural management has appeared in leading academic journals, including the Journal of International Business Studies, Academy of Management Review, and Research in Organizational Behavior. An award winning teacher, Boyacıgiller edited Crossing Cultures: Insights from Master Teachers (with R. Goodman and M. Phillips). A member of six editorial boards, Boyacıgiller was elected a Fellow of the Academy of International Business in 2007. Dr. Boyacıgiller received her doctorate from the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, her MBA degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her BA degree from Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, Turkey. She has taught at San Jose State University, the Anderson School at UCLA, the Haas School at University of California, Berkeley, the Stockholm School of Economics' Institute of International Business, Bilkent University, and Boğaziçi University. Boyacıgiller has held leadership positions in several professional and academic organizations including most significantly her role as VP Programs for AIB (2002-04), International Management Division Chair, Academy of Management (1996-97) and Advisory Board memberships in the Cyprus International Institute of Management, Turkish Society for Quality and Make a Wish Foundation, Turkey.
